December Updates
December 20, 2024
Increased Company Insights
HG Insights has added over 4.7 million companies to our Platform dataset, doubling the possibilities of insights on your prospects, competitors, and other key players in your technology ecosystem. This now brings the total number of entities we track in Platform to 8.9 million, with additional coverage spanning across installs, buying center data (Functional Area Intelligence), contextual intent, and Cloud Dynamics.
These new companies were tracked in HG’s foundational dataset but previously unavailable in Platform. You’ll see increased match rates by bringing this additional data to Platform, so it’s easier than ever to align your entire go-to-market org with our market and account intelligence.
Of the new records added, 60% are located in the Americas, 29% are in EMEA, and 11% are from the APAC region. You’ll also see an increase in companies with revenue ranging under $1 million (30% of new companies added), as well as the $1-10 million range (46%).
Markets change, and as new companies enter the landscape others will leave. A small percentage of companies we previously tracked will no longer be surfaced in Platform due to insufficient signals.

Discover More Insights with Optimized Matching
Accurate matching to companies is the first step to getting valuable technology insights into the hands of your GTM teams. HG has, on average, a 90% match rate, and we've made some updates to our matching logic to help surface organizations in that remaining 10%.
Going deeper than a simple HG ID match, we've added and adjusted the weighting of parameters like revenue, corporate and domestic parent hierarchies, and alternate and main URLs to reduce manual work and friction in your workflows by surfacing matches you can trust.
What does this mean for you?
No action is needed for this update; if you have a CRM connected through the HubSpot or Salesforce integration there will be a period of time while we rematch to the companies in those tools, which will be completed during the week of December 9. If you have any questions, please reach out to your account manager!
November Updates
Strengthening Scoring Profiles
November 27, 2024
To ensure you're prioritizing the right accounts, we've made an exciting change to our account scoring logic to reflect the highest signal strength for a given intent topic across any location.
Previously our calculation took a cumulative approach across locations, showing a composite score for signal strength. Consider the case of Babcock Assessments. We detected the intent topic "Digital Transformation" at two of their locations: Location A had a score between 0 and 39 (10 points), and Location B had a score between 60 and 100 (100 points). Overall they had a high signal score for Digital Transformation, but the cumulative calculation had a resulting score of 69.
By focusing our calculation on the highest signal strength detected, Babcock Assessments now returns an intent score of 100. You'll be able to see the context and scores of those two locations where the intent topic was detected, but your overall score will more accurately reflect the intensity of that company's interest.
What does this mean? All current and future scoring profiles will be updated to reflect this change; if your scoring profiles use signal strength you will notice this update.

New feature! Product Collections

Tired of adding products manually, one-by-one? Product Collections are now available throughout Platform. A product collection is a list of products you can save, name, and re-use at any time, making it easier than ever to gather insights.
Create product lists for your own products, your competitors’ solutions, similar technologies and so much more. Collections can also be shared with others on your team, so everyone in your organization will be on the same page.
How to Create a Collection
- Go to Settings > Library > Custom Collections > Products
- Select Create New Collection
- Bulk upload or manually enter your list of products to save and reuse!
Dive into the HG Product Catalog

Knowing your market means knowing and understanding what products your market is using. To dig into products you already know, and explore the breadth and depth of coverage of products you haven't discovered yet, we’ve made the entire HG Product Catalog easily accessible in Platform.
You’ll find the catalog from a new tab in your dashboard navigation called Product Catalog, and you can search for a specific product or vendor to find details like top customers for that product, where a product sits in its category hierarchy, and associated product attributes.
You’ll also have the ability to scroll through all product categories or attributes, with a view into how they’re defined. In the top right you’ll find a Download button to export the entire catalog as one excel file.
As new products are added to our database, you’ll be able to find them in the Platform catalog and export file.

Easily Access the Data You Need with Company Hierarchies in Exports

As markets continue to grow and expand, company hierarchies are also growing (and getting more complex). Earlier this year we added new Company Hierarchy filters to Platform to streamline your analyses, and now you can easily access this same information in your exports for Opportunity Generator and Market Intelligence.
We’ve introduced several new columns in exports to improve the visibility of company hierarchy and make it easier for users to understand company structures at a glance. You'll now find a column named Hierarchy Tier, as well as columns for Corporate Parent and Domestic Parent HGIDs and names to further clarify company relationships.
An export might look something like this:

- Hierarchy Tier: Permutations of company types (e.g., GHQ, Corporate Parent, Domestic Parent)
- Corporate Parent HGID: The HGID of the Corporate Parent, if applicable
- Corporate Parent Name: The name of the Corporate Parent

Intent can help you find more accurately find interested buyers earlier in the process, with the context you need to engage in personalized, tailored conversations. We now surface intent coverage for 87.6% of the companies in our best-in-class dataset, enabling you to improve your targetting even more.
We have also increased coverage for buyer’s journey metrics to 87.3% of companies in Platform, allowing you to further understand activity signals and calibrate your go-to-market strategy.

Updates to Your Contract Export
August 19, 2024
You asked, we answered: we're excited to add two fields to your Contract exports for SERVICE LINE PARENT and SERVICE LINE VALUE. These new additions make it even easier to use the Contract sheet, especially if you're doing work with pivot tables, or exploring specific use cases like GSI optimization.
From the Contracts tab of your export, you'll find these new columns after the Vendor information.
Compare & Contrast Multiple Scoring Profiles

To make decisions strategically it’s often helpful to compare different paths and options at the same time. With the new Compare & Contrast Scoring Profiles feature, you’ll be able to do just that.
Now in Opportunity Generator you can view up to three account scoring profiles simultaneously, streamlining your workflows while empowering your decision-making. Quickly compare and analyze different profiles across your company lists, leading to faster, more informed decisions and increased efficiency.
You’ll also be able to view the selected scoring profiles applied to your export files.
How can you use this feature?
- Evaluate different product offerings: Analyze different products from the same company to easily determine which offering has the highest potential among your target organizations.
- Analyze competitive market segments: Companies with the highest revenue for each unique normalized URL (before applying filters)
- Optimize your sales plays: Create and evaluate profiles for different sales strategies, like new customer acquisition, upselling, or cross-selling—all from the same dashboard.

Stay Organized with Company Types
July 11, 2024
New in Company Profiles, you can now see a detailed breakdown of an organization by various company types, including GHQ, Corporate Parent, Domestic Parent, and all other child entities. Selecting "Company Type" from the Organization View, which expands your right side panel, will show entities within one Company Type in the Organization view (the highest-level entity).
How does HG define these company types?
- Global Headquarters (GHQ) - the highest level parent within a hierarchy. There is only one GHQ per organizational hierarchy, which can span several distinct URLs.
- Corporate Parent - the highest level parent of all companies with the same (normalized) URL. There can be several corporate parents per GHQ.
- Domestic Parent - the highest level parent within each country of all companies with the same (normalized) URL. This is a great way to view companies with unique product detections, since HG attributes installs to companies via URL/country.
- All Entities - all parent companies and their subsidiaries.
You'll have the option to also view by Legacy Company Types to see how entities are mapped to Global Ultimate, Domestic Ultimate, and Other.
Filter By Install Age

Being able to pinpoint exactly when a company is using a product can supercharge your engagement with prospects and customers. With the new Install Age Filter, you'll be able to filter by Install Age for Product, Category, and Attribute levels in Opportunity Generator.
RevOps personas can build targeted lists of companies that have been using specific products, vendors, categories, attributes for a certain number of years, indicating potential openness to discussions about switching. This helps Sales reps optimize their outreach strategy and increase your chances of success.

June Updates
Improved Security for Export Downloads
June 14, 2024
Upon clicking the Export button in Platform, you'll receive an email alerting you that your report is ready with a button to Download. This will now open a new tab in your browser; your download should begin automatically. If not, you can prompt the download to begin, and you can also navigate easily back to Platform from this tab.
If you are not already signed into Platform when trying to access the report, you will be prompted to log in again. This update is to improve security around your exports by confirming your credentials if you are not currently logged into Platform.
New Managed Package for Salesforce Connector

Insights on Matching in Exports

If you are uploading a file to Platform for matching with the HG Company ID included, your export will now reflect the information you added for that column as well. Previously these columns were not included in your export; this update will give you additional context for company matching, and won't impact your standard workflow in anyway.

Improving Salesforce Connector Connections
May 23, 2024
For consistent performance and timely matching across all users, the Salesforce Connector will limit integrations with CRMs (both sandbox and production) exceeding 3 million records for matching to accounts and/or leads. If you try to connect an instance exceeding the 3 million cap, you'll receive a notification in Platform, as well as an email alert to modify your integration configuration. In the instance you do receive this message, we recommend only matching to accounts.
Increased Visibility of Intent Topics

We're bringing your intent topics front-and-center when filtering in Opportunity Generator and Company Profiles, without the need to type ahead. Instead of typing the names of your provisioned topics, we'll now display up to 200 of your interested signals from the Intent Activity filter tab, allowing you to find what intent topics you have access to more easily.
Bug Fixes 🐞
May 10, 2024
A bug was detected in some scoring profiles where entities' normalized scores were exceeding 100. We've made adjustments to product install age and product intensity to ensure all scores fall within the 0 - 100 range. If you encounter instances where your scoring profiles do not reflect this change, please let your CSM know!

Simplify Organization Hierarchies with Company Type Filters
April 25, 2024
Filtering by company type is a useful way to make sense of complex company hierarchies, and streamline your analysis workflow. Depending on your business needs you may need to focus on only one type of parent company, so to make finding the companies you care about easier we've added a new feature called Company Type Filter. These new Company Filters—available in both Opportunity Generator and Market Intelligence—allow you to target companies by Global Headquarters Only, Corporate Parent, Domestic Parent, or All Entities.
We will continue offering the legacy filters of Global Ultimate (GU) and Domestic Ultimate (DU) as well.
Here’s how we define these new filters:
- Global Headquarters Only: Companies tagged as GHQ, the topmost parent within its hierarchy. There is only one company tagged as a GHQ per hierarchy
- Corporate Parent: Companies with the highest revenue for each unique normalized URL (before applying filters)
- Domestic Parent: Companies with the highest revenue in each country for each unique normalized URL (before applying filters). This level is great for observing companies with unique product detections, as HG attributes installations to companies via URL/country
- All Entities: Includes all parent companies and their subsidiaries.
Enhancing Localized Installs for More Relevant Results
April 17, 2024
To give you the most current view of the world possible, we surface product installs with a last verified date within a two year range. Previously, this filtering was validated at the global level, so if a product was detected at any global location for a company within the last two years you would see last verified results for all subsidiary locations, even if the last verified date was older than two years.
We are now validating install detections at a more granular location-level, only showing you the locations you’re interested in that have a product install date within the last two years.
You’ll see this change reflected in your Locations column, as well as some adjustments to your scoring calculations and custom columns as product detections outside the two year range will no longer be included. This will also enhance your export process by automatically filtering out install detections that don’t apply to your relevant locations.

Increased Match Limit for Uploads
April 16, 2024
Exciting news: you can now upload files to Platform with up to 250k records for matching. Previously the limit was 50k, and files with more accounts would need to be segmented into multiple, smaller files for successful upload.
Your current workflow remains the same: nothing is changing to the way you upload accounts and view matched details, and shouldn't impact Platform performance in any way.

A bug was detected for scoring a company's Buyer Journey in cases where a company matches with multiple journeys. We've made adjustments to how these are weighted, so Intent Scores will now be normalized between 0-100.
Improved Product Presence Calculation
March 22, 2024
Improving on the Quick Start Account Scoring model, we're moving from counting all companies in the input list to counting the unique URLs. Why does this matter? For companies with larger corporate structures, install detections were being considered for every subsidiary, which isn't the most accurate view of product presence. By adjusting the QSAS model to focus unique URLs instead, we can deliver more accurate, consistent results for product presence at a company regardless of their size and structure.

Bulk Product Selector
March 10, 2024
Customers often need to filter by specific sets of products, and sometimes those lists can be extensive. To improve efficiency and reduce the tedious manual process of adding products to filters one-by-one, the Bulk Product Selector allows users to upload a formatted CSV file of products to that section of OppGen and MI.
To use this new feature, navigate to Products in the filters pop-up and check the Bulk Upload a list of products box. This will then prompt a new space where you can click to upload a local file, or drag an drop a CSV to the window.
You'll need to include at least the [product name] and [product id] columns for the upload, with a max upload of 300 products at a time.

State Aliases Causing Opportunity Generator Failure
Opportunity Generator was reported to fail when multiple state aliases were used in a search. For example, "California" and "CA". This issue is now resolved.
"CopyTo" Failing for Users
The "CopyTo" feature not working when sending to some users. This issue is now resolved.
Updated Firmographics and Hierarchies
March 5, 2024
The HG Platform data set has been updated. Changes to our dataset include:
- Updated firmographics
- Company hierarchy changes to reflect mergers and acquisitions
- Removal of some DUNS numbers
This change will improve the quality of HG data by delivering a current state-of-the-world and accurate picture of your markets. We’ve also implemented additional quality checks to deliver more value to you, our customers, with additional verification steps from the HG Data Operations team.
We don’t expect for you to notice significant changes to the data. However, if you do, this is the reason.
If you notice any inaccuracies or inconsistencies in our data, please let us know. We will take immediate action to ensure that you have accurate data in your hands.

Product Export Configurations
March 4, 2024
Export configurations now respect category and vendor filters. With this update, exports only include product installs that match the product filters selected.
Prior to this update, HG Platform would only include product filters from the Opportunity Generator query. Now, it includes Product Vendor and Product Category filters from the query. Any mix of the three filters is supported with this enhancement.
This update is especially useful for users to more flexibly apply large groups of products, helping them to quickly get to the export and start finding value to integrate into their workflows.
Weighted Scoring Experience
February 29, 2024
Platform now uses Weights and Points to add granularity and flexibility to Account Scoring. Geography is twice as important as Industry? Product Presence is 10x more important than Employee Count? No problem. Weights allow users to configure the significance of each scoring type relative to each other, without affecting the "Maximum Points'' within the scoring criteria. All scores will still be normalized out of 100 points. This change is currently available in Opportunity Generator and in exports.

Users can now easily understand WHY a company received its specific score. Company attributes that match a user's configured criteria will now be surfaced and highlighted under the company’s score, making scoring comprehension easier than ever before. This change is currently available in Opportunity Generator and in exports.

HG Platform Sharing
February 6, 2024
Users have the ability to save any file within their Settings Library with other users. To share a file users can:
- Go to their 'Settings' page
- Find the item within their library they would like to share
- Click the three dot under 'Actions' and select Share
- Select the user(s) they would like to share with and click Send a Copy
The users that receive the file copy can not edit and/or share with other users as well.
Data Expansion - 539K New Companies!

HG Insights has now added 539K new companies to HG Platform. This expanded coverage enhances the intelligence of your prospects across Installs, Functional Area Intelligence, Contextual Intent, and Cloud Dynamics.

HG Insights has expanded the set of install detections available on HG Platform. This change will also increase available data on HG Universe deliveries.
The total count of installs has increased 8.9% overall compared to the install data we were able to produce in the prior month. The most significant gains in coverage are with companies with <$10M in revenue and fewer than 50 employees. However, increases have occurred across the entire range of companies.
Product Attributes
November 20, 2023
Product Attributes are labels the HG Data Operations team have assigned to Tech Installs. Users can now filter by Product Attributes in Market Intelligence, Opportunity Generator, and the Installs tab of platform. This will allow users to discover which companies are using products with attributes such as "Generative AI", or "Language Learning Models". Product Attributes will be included for all users and viewable on company profile pages and in export files

Spend Model Update

The HG Platform spend model has been updated for H2 2023. Changes have been made to the way spend is calculated for HG Platform based on current market conditions. For a detailed view of these changes, please visit:
Whitespace
November 6, 2023
Whitespace is now available on HG Platform. With this new feature, users can now discover new opportunities and accounts via Opportunity Generator.
Users can access the Whitespace feature using two paths:
- Upload Accounts
- Filter Modal > Uploaded Accounts
Market Intelligence (MI) will also have this feature available via the MI dashboard.
Once an account list has been uploaded to Opportunity Generator, they will see a new check box named, 'Use my matched accounts to discover whitespace'.
This will be disabled by default. Enabling Whitespace removes all companies matched from the uploaded account, leaving only whitespace targets in Opportunity Generator. If users do not want to view Whitespace accounts, unchecking the box will disable the feature and the original uploaded account list will return.
When using this feature, please note that common best practices should still be employed (i.e. using an account scoring profile to prioritize accounts).

🚨 New Feature Alert 🚨 Quick Start Account Scoring

HG Insights has launched our newest feature to HG Platform: Quick Start Account Scoring (QSAS). With QSAS users can now quickly develop a data-backed scoring profile by uploading companies or accounts of interest to the QSAS features. An ideal fit scoring profile is generated using five automated scoring types:
- Product
- Revenue
- Employees
- Geography
- Industry
QSAS will then calculate a unique scoring profile with proportional weights for the scoring types. Please note, HG's additional 10 scoring types can be used to adjust your scoring profile as you see fit. Your Customer Success Manager is also available to help you optimize the profile.

Data Expansion

HG Insights has now added 2.3 million companies to Platform. This expanded coverage enhances the intelligence of your prospects across Installs, Functional Area Intelligence, Contextual Intent, and Cloud Dynamics.
Companies were selected based on historically matched records previously available through HG Solutions or the Salesforce Connector. By making this additional data now readily available in Platform, you’ll have increased match rates and improved ease of access, with HG Insights as your single source of truth for market intelligence.
These records have various amounts of coverage of the insights we have available:
- Installs: 80% with at least 1 install.
- FAI: 21%
- Contextual Intent: 28%
- Cloud Dynamics: 81%
- Spend: 0%
- Contracts: 0%
Geo breakdown of these companies looks like:
- AMER: 61%
- APAC: 12%
- EMEA: 27%
Revenue
- <1M: 20%
- 1-10M: 50%

Unknown values are not included in these percentages, as a result they do not add up to 100%. If you have activated the SBDS data set previously, no action is required on your part. If that is not the case, you will have to log out and log in to activate the new company set.
We’ve also added new capabilities to the employee and revenue range filters. These will allow users to choose, or not choose, to include ranged firmographics in their searches

Weighted Intensity

Weighted Intensity is an improvement on our intensity metric when multiple products in a competitive group are present. This helps our customers better distinguish the most relevant products in the competitive group at a company.
Cloud Maturity with Scoring

The addition of Cloud Maturity to Scoring allows users to prioritize accounts based on their adoption of cloud based products. Users can prioritize according to the full tech stack of products (with a 'Date Last Verified' of less than 24 months), or according to the most recently added technologies ('Date First Verified' less than 18 months).
New in Platform: Cloud Maturity!
Cloud Maturity is now available on HG Platform. With this addition, users have the ability to access Cloud insights on Opportunity Generator. The Cloud Maturity report includes:
- Total number of Cloud products
- Percentage of cloud based tech stack products by company
- Verified products within the last 24 months
- New products added to company’s tech stack verified within the last 18 months
- Rate of growth for cloud products by company
- Number of Top 3 public Cloud services detected (Azure, AWS, and GCP)

Install Mapping on MI
May 18, 2023
Users can now configure whether they want to see Installs mapped to the country of the company, or if they want to see the company installs at a global view. This flexibility highlights our granularity in install data, while giving users the flexibility to associate data points in a way that aligns to their segmentation, scoring, planning efforts.
This feature is now available on Opportunity Generator and Market Intelligence and is enabled by default. Users have the ability to either enable or disable this feature based on their preference.

Platform 1.0 Toggle Removal
May 12, 2023
The Platform 1.0 toggle has been removed. With this update, users can no longer access Platform 1.0. Additionally, any saved searches in Platform 1.0 are not longer available.

Updated Exported Columns
May 5, 2023
HG has updated the columns in Opportunity Generator exports. Select columns have been renamed in order to clarify, streamline, and enhance the format of exported data. Columns such as corporate parents, subsidiary information, and other key firmographic data points are being added back into HG Platform exported spreadsheets. Users now have additional firmographic data columns such as Company Latitude, Longitude, NAICS, SIC, etc. included by default. Additionally, hierarchy information has been improved and users will be able to see firmographic points of the corresponding Global HQ.

Saved Searches Migration (Platform 1.0 to Platform 2.0)
April 27, 2023
HG Insights has migrated all saved searches from Platform 1.0 to Platform 2.0. Saved searches on Platform 1.0 will remain available until May 12, 2023.
All migrated saved searches can be accessed under the My Opportunities
tab. The Author
column will display "Copied from Platform v1".

Multiple Account Scoring Profiles

Users now have the ability to create and toggle between multiple account scoring profiles. This will make prioritizing accounts based on different use cases easier than ever before. Users can create a unique scoring profile for their Ideal Customers, their Competitors, a new market expansion, and other use cases.
Scoring criteria can also be viewed by clicking on an individual company's score or directly on the company's profile page.

Small Business Data Set in Market Intelligence
April 14, 2023
Approximately 780K new companies have been added to Market Intelligence (MI) for a total of 1.5M company records. The addition of this data set creates a more consistent user experience Platform-wide with matching company counts between Opportunity Generator and Market Intelligence.
The category 'Average Spend per Company' in the 'Spend by Country' map has been updated to 'Average Spend per Company with Known Spend'. This value only includes companies with a known spend value and excludes companies with unknown spend values. This is intended to prevent artificially skewing the average value.
The MI charts 'Spend by Top 10 Countries' and 'Spend by Top Industries (NAICS)' have been updated to include new company counts. The 'Spend by Revenue Range' chart includes a new range break for companies with a revenue less than $1M and the 'Spend by Employee Range' includes a new range break to include companies with 1-49 employees.
Under filters, the 'IT Spend Budget' filter includes the toggle 'Show all companies'. By checking the box users can see all companies enabled within Platform or hide companies without an associated spend value.

Columns Added to Contracts
March 31, 2023
Service line fields have been added back into the Contracts page. These fields allow users to understand the nuances about the contracts that are held between companies and vendors.
Columns added to exports:
- Contract UUID, Vendor DUNS, Vendor Name, Vendor Role, Percent, Service Line, Geographical Scope, and Delivery Type
The existing 'Primary Vendor Name' and 'Primary Vendor DUNS' columns have been removed as this data now appears in the service line Vendor columns.
Contracts in Company Pages in Platform 2.1
March 3, 2023
The contracts page has been added back to the Company pages on Platform 2.1 with an improved design. Data is grouped to be more scannable, and users can now expand contracts as they navigate, rather than jumping in back and forth.
Users may notice a difference in contract counts between Platform 1.0 and Platform 2.1. This is because with this update, the noisiness of this tab has been reduced by mapping contracts to the appropriate hierarchy structure in Platform 2.1, rather than rolling it together.
Small Business Data Set
February 23, 2022
Users now have access to the Small and Midsize Business Data set that adds 780K new companies to the HG Platform's core data set. This addition doubles the number of available records on the Platform. Users must contact their customer success manager to enable this data on their account.

Product Installs by Country
January 27, 2023
Users can now enable the HG Platform to only return companies if the install data is detected in the same country as the company. This feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled by the user under Filters > Tech Install.
Product Filters Now in Exports
January 25, 2023
Once users specify which Products are important to them through Opportunity Generator filters, the Platform will carry their selection over to the Export Configuration modal. Users no longer need to manually reenter their Products.
Installs - Added Top Vendors by Product
January 17, 2023
The Top Vendors by Product chart has been added back to the Installs Tab on the Company Profiles page. Users can now shorten their overall workflow and see this key insight within the Platform.
