Summer '18 - ID Change Guide
Last updated: December 5, 2025
Background
In order to accommodate some of the new features in the Summer release of HG Data for Salesforce, the way that unique technology-company pair identifiers are generated must be changed. This identifier is the ID used by the Lightning Data Platform, and not the record ID for each HG Data Technology record.
Due to this change, every technology-company pair ID will be regenerated which will result in some impact to each Customer Org.
This change is scheduled to occur on 5/31/2018.
Impact on Customer Orgs
Existing HG Data Technology Records
As a result of the new IDs being generated for each HG Data Technology record, when HG Data Technology records are updated, existing records will be marked as Inactive and will be replaced by records built with the new IDs. This will occur either as records are periodically updated every 15 days, or if the Data Integration Rule is restarted.
The records built with the old IDs will be easy to find using the Inactive field, which will be marked as True. However, in some reports and views, these inactive records may appear to be duplicates if the Inactive field is not displayed.
|
Automatic Removal of Inactive Records HG Data for Salesforce has a function that allows for automatic removal of records marked as Inactive. Please contact HG Insights if you would like this function enabled. |
Workflows, Triggers, and Other Automations
As new HG Insights Technology records will be created - it is suggested that you pause all workflow rules, triggers, flows, process builders, or other automations that are built on the HG Insights Technology records. This will prevent undesired actions from resulting from the new records being created.
Reporting
If the Inactive field is not displayed in reports showing HG Insights Technologies it will be difficult to differentiate between the new and old records. As a result - it may appear to users that there are duplicate records.
Custom Fields on the HG Insights Technology Object
If you have built any custom fields on the HG Insights Technology Object there may be some additional impact. While formula fields will automatically recalculate, any fields with static data such as picklists, checkboxes, and text fields, may need to be repopulated.
Suggested Actions
As all of the HG Insights Technology records will be replaced due to the ID changes, it is suggested that the following actions are performed on or around May 31st, 2018.
- Deactivate the Data Integration Rule.
-
This will stop the flow of New HG Insights Technology Records being created or updated.
- Pause all Workflow Rules, Triggers, Process Builders, or other process automations that are built on the HG Insights Technology object.
-
This will prevent undesired actions from executing. For example, Workflow Rules based on newly detected technologies would trigger due to the ID changes.
-
Wait for confirmation email from HG Insights that the new IDs are in place.
- Re-Activate the Data Integration Rule
-
This will re-enrich all of your existing accounts with the new HG Insights Technology Records.
- Delete the HG Insights Technology records marked as Inactive*.
- If you would like this done automatically, HG Insights can enable a feature in your org to automatically delete the Inactive HG Insights Technology records.
- Note, to prevent undesired actions from executing, you will still need to pause all workflow rules, triggers, process builders, or other process automations that are built on the HG Insights Technology object.
